Education and Health Sector

The SolarSPELL team carried out its first training in Vanuatu in 2015. In 2017, at the request of the Peace Corps post, the SolarSPELL libraries were provided to health sector Peace Corps volunteers (in addition to education sector volunteers). This led to the involvement of ASU’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation with the SolarSPELL project, as well as in-field engagement by ASU Doctoral Nursing Practice (DNP) students, as the team worked to build out the localized health-related information in the library. The team has had the opportunity to see firsthand how the SolarSPELL library is being used in both rural schools and health care clinics across Vanuatu, and to visit with some amazing and dedicated volunteers there. Vanuatu Peace Corps volunteers work in the Education and Health sectors.
